Back and forth to the moon with O/Modernt

Following their memorable performance last year during the Opening Concert of Flanders Festival Ghent, the Swedish O/Modernt returns to Ghent with another surprising programme. On the music stands are Beethoven, Debussy, Hahn, Mancini… in short: composers who will be bien étonnés de se trouver ensemble [rather astonished to find themselves together]. With his inexhaustible imagination, artistic director and violinist Hugo Ticciati turns it into a brilliant and coherent narrative. The common thread is the capricious moon and all images and feelings that she conjures up in her many forms: from sweet melancholy to ominous oppression. With Richard Strauss’ Metamorphosen as a penetrating finale, in the version for string septet. In this late masterpiece, Strauss transcends all the physical and sensory properties of music and transports us to another dimension.

In co-production with HoGent.
