Mozart week on tour with Rolando Villazón & François Leleux
In addition to the resident orchestra Camerata Salzburg and the internationally renowned tenor Rolando Villazón, the second Mozartwoche concert also presents the French conductor and oboe virtuoso François Leleux. No surprise that the entire programme is devoted to Mozart, one of the composers we are highlighting this year.
Leleux is the inimitable soloist in Mozart’s beautiful oboe concerto. Under his direction, the orchestra also performs the delightful Overture from Le nozze di Figaro(The Marriage of Figaro) and the so-called Prague Symphony no. 38, one of Mozart’s loveliest. Mozart wrote both works during his stay in Vienna in 1786, followed shortly by a tremendous premiere in Prague. And, as the icing on the cake, Rolando Villazón himself treats us to a brilliant concert aria that Mozart wrote when he was only nine(!) years old while living with his parents in London and a Virtuoso Aria from the later opera Il re pastore.
