Flanders Festival Ghent, KASK & Conservatorium and ECMA pro create career boost for chamber music ensembles

The coronavirus pandemic made 2020 an incredibly challenging year for culture and education worldwide. Nevertheless, in September last year we were fortunate enough to experience a fresh breeze blowing through the chamber music genre, thanks to ECMA (the European Chamber Music Academy). With its prestigious European Masters in Chamber Music, this academy has been the international breeding ground for top talent for more than fifteen years. In partnership with HOGENT, Flanders Festival Ghent reserves a space on its programme each year for ECMA concerts, as well as the renowned ECMA masterclasses associated with them.

With the support of the European Union’s Creative Europe programme, ECMA was able to expand last winter to include ECMA pro: a collaboration between twelve European conservatoires, concert halls and festivals which, through a unique training programme, particularly focuses on the career development and social and societal relevance of young ensembles.

This involves organising masterclasses, lectures, workshops, training and showcases for ensembles from more than fifteen different countries. So from now on, in addition to the usual masterclasses, Flanders Festival Ghent and KASK & Conservatorium will also be organising showcases. In this way we will help to raise the profile of ensembles with concert organisers and agencies in the international concert world.

Flanders Festival Ghent is a proud partner in this inspiring international collaboration. This allows us to play our part in the future of fresh international talent!
