Zwanenkrakers
Nieuw Amsterdams Klarinet Kwartet
Description
The four virtuoso clarinettists of the Nieuw Amsterdams Klarinet Kwartet play music from the king and queen of ballets, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker and Swan Lake respectively. They complement the programme with music inspired by those two masterpieces. For instance, big band legend Duke Ellington wrote his own Nutcracker Suite, and the quartet commissioned several arrangers and composers to express their own visions of the ballet classics.
Expect a highly emotional and folksy version of the well-known Danse Arabe, brace yourself for a swinging Dance of the Floreadores, and get carried away by the ever-masterful melodies of Tchaikovsky.
