Description
For twenty years with his ensemble Baroksolistene, the Norwegian baroque violinist Bjarte Eike has been exploring the boundary between baroque music and the folk tradition; in other words: between church, concert hall and bar. Their iconic project The Nordic Sessions is a fascinating tour d'horizon of the Northern European music culture of the 17th and 18th centuries. The programme connects music by Scandinavian composers with The English Dancing Master from 1651, but also with traditional songs from Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the Shetland Islands, Scotland, Ireland and England.
With Bjarte Eike and his ensemble you never get a 'normal' concert. Storytelling is central to every performance. As well as a great deal of lively music, also expect a few tall tales.
