Jakub Józef Orliński & il Pomo d’Oro

Baroque gems from Venice and Naples

Description

Jakub Józef Orliński is the countertenor of the moment. With his warm, rounded voice, his virtuoso embellishments and his irresistible, somewhat mischievous charm, the Polish star conquers the hearts of young and old worldwide. Orliński avoids the well-trodden paths and makes adventurous programme choices. Together with his friends from the baroque orchestra il Pomo d'Oro, he presents an anthology of arias and instrumental works from the rich Italian seventeenth century. In addition to some well-known names, such as Monteverdi and Frescobaldi, new discoveries are also planned, such as Giovanni Cesare Netti from Apulia - on the outskirts of Europe - who made a career in Naples. And in addition, Orliński's compatriot, the Polish baroque composer Adam Jarzębski, who spent some time in Italy.

Orliński, who besides being a singer is also a fashion icon and proficient break dancer, is an artist of our times. His mission is to show that this three-hundred-year-old music is still relevant today and has lost nothing of its eloquence. Goosebumps guaranteed!
