No peace without war: Belgian living legends Neve, Brossé & Sioen in concert
United we are strong! The proof is in this collaboration by the leading composer Dirk Brossé, the energetic jazz star Jef Neve and the wonderful singer-songwriter Frederik Sioen in this unique project. Following stops in Brussels, New York and Düsseldorf, Distortion, a Hymn to Liberty, their ode to peace, is landing in Ghent. It is no coincidence that this is in the middle of the city’s year of peace, 100 years after the end of the Great War.
Given the luxury of an artistic carte blanche, they offer their own interpretation of this theme, each in his own musical idiom. Yet the end product forms a unanimous artistic statement.
After all, the message conveyed by Distortion, a Hymn to Liberty is clear: before the ultimate peace can be achieved, Man must first be reconciled to his unpredictable existence.
These three living legends share the stage with the soprano Hanne Roos and the Belgian National Orchestra. In this way, this concert very appropriately brings together the cream of our native music scene. A delight for everyone who wants to listen ‘out of the box’!
A concert of the City of Ghent. With the support of the Flemish Government and Belfius.
